LibreCAD
LibreCAD/LibreCADReviewed by Radar
What it does
LibreCAD is a desktop program for 2D technical drawing (CAD). You draw lines, circles, arcs and curves with exact measurements, organize them in layers, and add dimensions and text. It opens DXF and DWG drawings and saves to DXF, DWG, PDF and SVG. It is for students, hobbyists and professionals who need flat drawings, not 3D models. It started as a copy of the free edition of QCAD and is under the GPLv2 license. Ready downloads exist for Windows, macOS and Linux, and the interface is translated into over 30 languages.

The 2.2.1 release includes ready Windows installers (for example LibreCAD-v2.2.1.6-1-g05af8d052-win64-msvc.exe, about 81 MB), so you download and run it.

What Radar could not check
- How well it opens complex DWG files made in AutoCAD; DWG support depends on how the build was made.
- Whether the Windows installer is digitally signed or triggers a Windows SmartScreen warning.
- How stable the "continuous" builds from the development branch are compared with the 2.2.1 builds.
