SolidCraft
tangency-labs/solidcraftReviewed by Radar
What it does
SolidCraft is a 3D design (CAD) app for making mechanical parts. You draw a sketch with exact sizes, turn it into a solid, and add holes, rounded edges, threads and more. Change a number later and the whole part rebuilds. It also handles assemblies and sheet metal, and opens and saves common formats such as STEP, STL and 3MF. The project calls itself early but usable for simple parts. There are installers for Windows, Mac and Linux and a version that runs in the browser.
How easy it is to install
A · download and open · Windows
Windows has a ready .msi installer, a .exe and a portable .zip, and there is a browser version with no install; Rust is only needed to build it from source.

What Radar could not check
- Whether complex parts and assemblies rebuild correctly without errors.
- Whether STEP files from other CAD programs open accurately.
- Whether the app sends crash reports, and what they contain.
- Whether the built-in update process downloads code without asking.
- Speed on PCs without a dedicated graphics card.
