LearnHarness

What it does
LearnHarness is a desktop app that uses AI agents to teach. It first finds out what you already understand, plans the steps to your goal, explains one reasoning step at a time and then gives practice problems. What you learn is kept as a knowledge graph on your machine and reused in later sessions. It is for people who want to study a hard topic with AI help. There are installers for Windows, macOS (Apple Silicon) and Linux, and you add your own AI provider key (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, DeepSeek, OpenRouter and others). Dictation and web search use separate service keys.
How easy it is to install

Best on macOS: the release v0.4.0 has a signed and notarized DMG (LearnHarness-0.4.0-arm64.dmg) that you drag to Applications, and then you only have to paste your own AI provider key before the first session. Windows is the same install-plus-key path with LearnHarness-0.4.0-x64-setup.exe, but the README says that installer is unsigned, so Windows may warn about an unknown publisher; on Linux you first make LearnHarness-0.4.0-x86_64.AppImage executable or install the .deb.

- Attentionunsigned windows installer
README: "Windows (x64): run the installer. It is currently unsigned; Windows may show an “unknown publisher” or SmartScreen warning."
AI review
- Infocontent sent to external services
README: "Model requests send the context needed for the task; web research and dictation also contact external services. Local storage does not mean offline processing." Your lesson text therefore leaves your computer.
AI review
- Infoin app auto updates
README: "All three platforms support in-app updates", and package.json depends on electron-updater ^6.8.9, so the app can download new versions by itself after you install it.

What Radar could not check
- Whether the app really works on Windows, macOS and Linux — we did not install or run it.
- The real disk space it uses: the checks estimate 157 to 471 MB for the installers, and lessons plus the knowledge graph grow on top of that.
- How much your AI provider will charge for a teaching or practice session.
- Exactly what text is sent to the model providers, to web search and to Deepgram during a session.
- Whether chats, the knowledge graph and the API keys stay only on your machine, as the README states.
- What the app downloads during its in-app updates.
