Hop

What it does
hop is a single Windows program that sets up Linux alongside Windows without a USB stick. It downloads the system's ISO (or uses one you already have), checks it against the project's published checksum where there is one, makes room on an internal disk by using free space or shrinking a drive, copies the installer files to a small partition and restarts into the Linux installer. A separate option, confirmed by typing ERASE, replaces Windows completely. It is for Windows 10 (1803 or newer) or 11 on a UEFI PC with a GPT disk, and asks for administrator access.
How easy it is to install
A · download and open · Windows
On Windows you download hop.exe from Releases and run it, with nothing to install first, so Windows is an A. The README notes Windows will ask for administrator access and SmartScreen may warn about the file.

Risk signals (5)
- Attentionchanges disk partitions
README, 'How it works': hop shrinks C: or another drive and creates a new FAT32 installer partition plus the Linux space on the internal disk ('[ EFI ][ C: Windows ][ Installer ][ Linux ][ Recovery ]').
AI review
- Attentionoption erases windows
README: 'Can replace Windows entirely, for Ubuntu, Zorin OS, Debian and Arch... It's a separate choice with its own warning, and you have to type ERASE.'
AI review
- Attentionbinary not code signed
README, 'Use it': 'SmartScreen may warn because hop isn't code-signed yet: click More info -> Run anyway.'
AI review
- Infodownloads content at run time
The three releases are a single hop.exe under 1 MB, and the README says hop 'gets the ISO from the project's own server', so the Linux system itself is downloaded while you use the app.
AI review
- Infovery new project
GitHub facts: the repository was created on 2026-10-30 and all three releases are dated 2026-10-31, with 731 stars already, so there is no track record yet.

What Radar could not check
- Whether the install actually completes on a given PC's firmware and disk layout
- Whether the ISO checksum is really published and checked for every system on the list
- How much free disk space is needed once the ISO is downloaded and copied
- Whether Undo always gives the space back to the original drive
- Whether the BitLocker and Secure Boot checks catch every case before the disk is changed
