Cherry Studio

What it does
Cherry Studio is an installable program for Windows, macOS and Linux that puts many AI services in one window. You add your own keys for OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini and others, or use local models through Ollama or LM Studio, then chat, compare answers from several models, build knowledge bases from your files, translate, search the web, generate images and set up agents that use tools and MCP servers. Conversations and knowledge bases are kept on your device, with optional WebDAV backup. The installer is around 290 MB.
How easy it is to install
B · installer plus one simple step · Windows
- Windows B
- macOS B
- Linux B
B on all three: every release has a ready installer (win-x64-setup.exe or a portable .exe, a mac .dmg, and an AppImage, .deb or .rpm for Linux), but after opening it you still have to add an API key or install a local model before it can answer anything.

- Attentionagents can run commands on your computer
README Key Features: agents "Work with files, run commands, and use browser and computer automation tools", can be extended with Skills and MCP servers, and can "Run scheduled tasks and connect agents to messaging platforms through Channels" — the app can act on your machine on its own.

- Infocopyleft license agpl
LICENSE is AGPL-3.0. The README adds that commercial use is allowed "subject to full compliance with the terms" and that an exemption needs a paid commercial license from [email protected], so a modified version offered over a network must have its source shared.

- Infocrash reports to sentry
.env.example: "Sentry uses a built-in public DSN; development is disabled and production uploads require user consent", so the installed app can send crash reports to an outside service once you agree.
AI review
- Infovendor cloud and regional build
The repository builds two editions (`CHERRY_EDITION=global` and `CHERRY_EDITION=cn` with `electron-builder.cn.config.cjs`) and has a "Cherry Cloud" backend setting (`MAIN_VITE_CHERRY_CLOUD_API_ORIGIN` in .env.example), so which servers a build talks to depends on the edition you download.

- Infoapi gateway opens local access
README Key Features: "use the API Gateway to connect other applications to your configured models", which means the app can serve your provider keys to other programs on the machine when you turn it on.

What Radar could not check
- Whether the dependencies flagged with known vulnerabilities (sharp, systeminformation) affect the shipped app
- What the app sends to its own servers in each edition, which needs watching the traffic
- How much your use of cloud models will cost per month
- Whether the installers were built from this source code
