Free My TV

What it does
Free My TV is a replacement home screen for Google TV and Android TV, with app versions for LG and Samsung TVs. It shows your streaming apps, trending titles from those apps, the weather and optional crypto prices, with no ads. On Google TV it turns off (does not uninstall) the stock home screen and some preinstalled promo apps, and one setting brings them back. Installing needs a computer on the same Wi-Fi, the TV's developer mode and the adb tool, or an AI coding assistant to do it. Trending picks need a free TMDB key, which you add on the TV itself.

There is a ready FreeMyTV.apk, but on Windows you must install adb, turn on developer mode and USB debugging on the TV, and type adb commands (or let an AI assistant do it); Mac and Linux are the same, and LG and Samsung need Python or a community installer.

automatic check
- Attentiontv adb stays enabled
README.md, How it works: "The app connects to 127.0.0.1:5555 with its own key ... and runs the same commands you would: cmd package set-home-activity, ... pm disable-user". Switching back, the watchdog and the boot check depend on ADB, so the TV's debug port 5555 stays turned on and reachable on your home network.

- Infoai assistant gets shell access
README.md, The easy way: an AI coding assistant is told to install it and "downloads the code, installs the tools it needs, builds the app and puts it on your TV", running commands on your computer.

- Infoself updating apk
README.md: "Once a week the APK from the release looks for a newer release and downloads it"; it installs through Android's installer, which asks first, after the user allows Free My TV to install apps.

- Infoaccessibility and notification access
README.md, What it changes: on TCL and other brands a "small accessibility service that only reads those buttons" handles remote keys, and the optional Now Playing widget uses a notification listener granted through the TV's ADB.

What Radar could not check
- Whether it works on your exact TV model and firmware
- Whether 'Original' really brings back every app that was turned off
- Whether a TV firmware update undoes the changes or breaks the home screen
- Which commands an AI coding assistant actually runs when it follows the instructions
- What the accessibility service and the in-app ADB connection do beyond what the README describes
