Mika

What it does
Mika is a phone assistant for Android: you ask in plain words and it opens apps, taps, types and reads pages on a hidden background screen while you keep using the phone. It also has a built-in browser, timed tasks and a Linux sandbox for files on arm64 phones. There is no Mika server: you connect your own AI provider key (DeepSeek, OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, OpenRouter, a local Ollama and others) or sign in with a ChatGPT, xAI or OpenRouter account. Chat and browsing need Android 11+; operating other apps needs Android 12+ and a one-time wireless debugging pairing.
How easy it is to install
C · install 1 or 2 tools
It is an Android-only app, so none of the desktop platforms get a grade and the deterministic check found no desktop binaries. The README's "three steps" are: install the APK from the releases page, then enter an API key or sign in with a model account, then — for the headline feature of operating other apps — run the "set up phone control" wizard and pair wireless debugging once in the phone's developer options, which the FAQ says some phones can only do from a computer over USB.

- An AI model provider of your choice (DeepSeek, Qwen, Kimi, OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, OpenRouter, Groq, Mistral, Ollama and others)
- Cost
- Free, API costs extra · The app is free and Apache-2.0, but it only works with an AI model you pay for: a provider API key, or a ChatGPT Plus/Pro, xAI or OpenRouter account. The README also allows a self-hosted model (Ollama, LM Studio), which has no per-use cost.

Risk signals (6)
- Attentionneeds deep control of the phone
The repository topics start with "accessibility" and step 3 of the README is to pair wireless debugging on the phone ("在手机上配对一次无线调试"). Wireless debugging is Android's developer channel for controlling the device, and the app reads the screen and taps in your place, so it holds the same reach over your phone that you do, including inside your messaging and banking apps.

- Attentionautomating other apps may break their rules
README, privacy section: "自动操作第三方 App 和网站可能违反它们的用户协议,请自行判断" — automating third-party apps and websites may breach their terms of use, and the project leaves that judgement to you. One of its own demos is "看广告领听歌权益" (watch ads to collect music listening perks), and others act on recruitment sites and shopping sites on your behalf.
AI review
- Attentionyour screen is sent to the model provider
README: "没有 Mika 服务器:你的话、屏幕内容只发给你自己配置的模型服务商" — there is no Mika server, but what you say and what is on the screen go to the AI provider you configured. The demo of summarising a WeChat group means private chat content leaves the phone for that provider.
AI review
- Attentionacts without asking by default
README: the default "询问模式" (ask mode) only stops to ask before spending money (orders, payments) and does everything else straight through, and a fully "自主模式" (autonomous mode) can be switched on. Mistakes in apps you are signed in to can therefore happen without a confirmation.
AI review
- Infovery new and moving fast
The repository was created on 2026-10-29 and had 28 releases by 2026-10-31, the newest being v0.1.27 — a pre-1.0 version number and several releases a day. It already has 2765 stars, so many people are trying software that is two days old.
AI review
- Infosideloaded app that updates itself
README FAQ: "更新从哪来?只从本仓库的 Releases 发布;App 里「关于 › 检查更新」也能直接升级" — the app is installed as an APK outside any store and upgrades itself from this repository's releases, so each update is only as trustworthy as the repository account.

What Radar could not check
- Whether the APK installs and really operates apps on your particular phone and Android version (the project ships its own 12-point compatibility self-check)
- Whether the wireless debugging pairing survives Wi-Fi changes and restarts without a computer
- What the AI provider you choose does with the screen contents and chat text it receives
- How much the model calls cost in a month of real use
- Disk and memory use on the phone, which the check could not estimate
- Whether the Linux sandbox feature works on your device, since it needs an arm64 phone
