ECC

affaan-m/ECCReviewed by AI

What it does

ECC plugs 71 agents, 311 skills, rules, memory and background scripts into an AI coding assistant so it plans, tests, reviews and remembers in a fixed routine. It is for people who already write software with Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or a similar assistant. It does not replace the assistant: it runs inside one, and the README says it cannot even replace Claude Code's own plugin command. You need Node.js 18 or newer, Git and the assistant, then setup commands in a terminal. Optional extras need keys from other services.

How easy it is to install

  • macOS D
  • Linux D

Same work on Windows, macOS and Linux and there is no installer program: you first install Node.js 18 or newer, Git and an AI coding assistant, then run the guided setup in a terminal (`npx [email protected] setup`) and pick a scope and a hook profile. The 19 releases carry no platform files, and the README warns that stacking two install paths in one assistant duplicates skills, hooks and settings.

Free, API costs extra · ECC itself is free (MIT). It only works inside an AI coding assistant, which normally needs a paid plan or paid API use. The README also sells a hosted 'ECC Pro' GitHub App for private repositories from $19 per seat per month, plus sponsorship tiers.

    automatic check

  • Attentionbackground scripts run during your ai sessions

The install profiles can materialize a 'hook runtime' that the README describes as 'Enforcement, session summaries, continuous learning, instincts, and context controls'. It says: 'Any install whose profile or modules would materialize the hook runtime requires an explicit decision. Without --enable-hooks or --no-hooks, the installer prints what the hooks can do and stops before writing anything.' Once enabled, those scripts run on their own at session events on your computer.

    AI review

  • Attentionone command sends your code to another ai provider

README, Astra review: '/astra-review sends Claude-written code to GPT-6-Astra for an independent cross-provider review. It runs the locally installed Codex CLI with your ChatGPT login (codex login) (...) Invoking the command is your consent to send that diff to OpenAI.'

    AI review

  • Infosponsored provider links with referral codes

.env.example, which calls itself the 'Canonical list of required environment variables', lists ATLAS_API_KEY next to 'https://www.atlascloud.ai/?utm_source=github&utm_medium=link&utm_campaign=ECC'; the README sponsor row links 'https://platform.kimi.ai?aff=ecc', 'https://www.greptile.com/go/ecc' and 'https://www.kimi.ai/code?aff=ecc'. Atlas Cloud is listed as a past sponsor.

    AI review

  • Infosome commands need code from a third party repository

README: the `multi-*` commands need the `ccg-workflow` runtime from another project, and ECC itself says 'ECC does not bundle CCG or attest to a compatible, audited CCG release'. It asks you to review and install an exact upstream release yourself.

    AI review

  • Infoalways loaded rules and a very large catalog

README: 'Access to 71 agents, 311 skills, and 97 legacy command shims, plus hooks, rules, memory, continuous learning', and 'Rules are always-loaded context, so begin with common and one pack for the stack you actually use.' Everything that is loaded takes space in the assistant's context and adds to what each session costs.

    AI review

  • Infoships an auto update script

The published file list in package.json includes `scripts/auto-update.js` alongside `scripts/install-apply.js` and the hook scripts, so the package carries its own updater; the README states only that 'ECC never uploads diagnostics automatically'.

    AI review

  • Infoproject warns about fake copies of itself

README warning block: 'Install ECC only from verified channels (...) Third-party re-uploads and unofficial mirrors are not maintained or reviewed by the project and may contain malware.'

What Radar could not check

  • What the hook scripts actually run on your computer during each session once enabled
  • Whether 311 skills and 71 agents improve results or mainly add context and cost
  • How much extra AI usage, and money, one session with ECC consumes
  • Whether the auto-update script fetches new code after installation
  • Whether the Windows setup works with the current version of each assistant
  • Whether uninstall really removes everything it wrote across several assistants
  • Real disk use after a full install plus the Node dependencies
