Agent Skills
anthropics/skillsReviewed by AI
What it does
This is Anthropic's public collection of Agent Skills: folders of instructions, scripts and resources that Claude loads to do a task the same way every time. It has examples for art, music and design, testing web apps, building MCP servers and company communications, plus the document skills behind Claude's Word, PDF, PowerPoint and Excel files. It also holds the Agent Skills specification and a template for your own skills. On Claude.ai paid plans the example skills are already there; in Claude Code you add them with two commands. The README calls them demos for learning.

Easiest on the web: on Claude.ai paid plans these example skills are already enabled, so you only need the paid account. On Windows, Mac and Linux you first install Claude Code and then run two commands, such as /plugin marketplace add anthropics/skills and /plugin install document-skills@anthropic-agent-skills.

- Infodocument skills source available
README.md: "Many skills in this repo are open source (Apache 2.0)", but the skills in skills/docx, skills/pdf, skills/pptx and skills/xlsx "are source-available, not open source". Reusing those four has limits beyond the missing top-level license.

- Infoskills include scripts
README.md: "Skills are folders of instructions, scripts, and resources that Claude loads dynamically". In Claude Code, the scripts inside a skill can run on your computer.
