Superpowers
obra/superpowersReviewed by AI
What it does
Superpowers is a set of written skills plus a small plugin that changes how an AI coding agent works. Instead of jumping into code, the agent asks what you are really trying to build, writes a design you approve, turns it into small tasks, then works through them with tests first and a code review after each step. It installs as a plugin in Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI, Copilot CLI, Grok, Kimi, OpenCode, Devin and others, usually with one command inside the agent. It is for programmers who already use one of those agents.
How easy it is to install
C · install 1 or 2 tools · Windows
- Windows C
- macOS C
- Linux C
You need one of the supported coding agents installed first, then one or two commands inside it, for example `/plugin install superpowers@claude-plugins-official` in Claude Code or `gemini extensions install https://github.com/obra/superpowers`. Each agent has its own install path and you repeat it per agent; on some you also restart the session or approve the hooks.

automatic check
- Attentionagent works long stretches and deletes code
README: 'It's not uncommon for your agent to work autonomously for a couple hours at a time', the test-driven-development skill 'Deletes code written before tests', and finishing-a-development-branch 'presents options (merge/PR/keep/discard), cleans up worktree'. The skills are described as 'Mandatory workflows, not suggestions', so the agent is steered to remove and rewrite work on its own.
AI review
- Infoloads an image from the authors site by default
README section 'Visual companion telemetry': by default the Prime Radiant logo in the brainstorming visual companion is loaded from their website and carries the Superpowers version in use; they say it includes nothing about your project, prompt or agent, and that SUPERPOWERS_DISABLE_TELEMETRY (or Claude Code's DISABLE_TELEMETRY) turns it off.
AI review
- Infoinjects instructions at every session start
The repository ships hooks/ and plugin folders for a dozen agents (.claude-plugin/, .codex-plugin/, .cursor-plugin/, .devin-plugin/, .muse-plugin/ and more); the README says the `using-superpowers` bootstrap is injected through the native SessionStart hook and again after compaction, so its instructions are added to every conversation without you asking.
AI review
- Infoone install path fetches instructions from a url
For OpenCode the README tells you to say: 'Fetch and follow instructions from https://raw.githubusercontent.com/obra/superpowers/refs/heads/main/.opencode/INSTALL.md', which asks the agent to download a file and follow whatever it contains at that moment.

What Radar could not check
- Whether the workflow actually improves results on a real project
- How much extra AI usage, and therefore cost, the subagent-driven workflow consumes
- What the bundled hooks do in each of the supported agents
- How well agents other than Claude Code pick the skills up, especially on Windows
- Whether the git worktree steps behave well in an existing repository with uncommitted work
