CC Switch

farion1231/cc-switchReviewed by AI

What it does

CC Switch is a small desktop app for people who use AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI or OpenCode. Instead of opening each tool's JSON, TOML or YAML file to change the address, key and model, you pick a provider in the app and switch with one click; it only replaces those connection fields and leaves the rest of your settings alone. It also keeps MCP servers, skills and prompts in one place, reads each tool's session logs and shows token use. Installers for Windows, macOS and Linux.

How easy it is to install

B · installer plus one simple step · Windows

  • Windows B
  • macOS B
  • Linux B

macOS is the smoothest: `brew install --cask cc-switch`, or a .dmg the README says is code-signed and notarised by Apple, so it opens directly. Windows has a .msi installer or a portable zip, and Linux has .deb, .rpm and AppImage files. It is a B rather than an A everywhere because the app is empty until you paste in a provider key, and Linux also needs glibc 2.35+ and WebKitGTK 4.1 (RHEL, Rocky and Alma 8-9 are not supported).

Risk signals (6)

  • Attentionreadme is mostly paid promotion

Before any description of the software, the README lists more than 30 sponsors, each an AI API relay platform with a referral link and a promo code ("register using this link and enter the 'cc-switch' promo code during first recharge to get 10% off"). The project earns from sign-ups, so its list of recommended providers is not a neutral comparison.

    AI review

  • Attentionpoints official tools at third party relays

The presets include "community relays", and the sponsors describe reselling access to the same models far below list price: CCSub calls itself "your drop-in replacement for a Claude.ai subscription" at "roughly 30% of direct API cost", AICoding advertises "Claude Code at 19% of original price, GPT at just 1%". Anthropic's and OpenAI's terms cover who may resell access to their models, and an account used through such a relay can be refused or closed.

    AI review

  • Attentionhandles your api keys and rewrites other tools configs

The app's job is to store provider keys and write them into the config files of up to twelve other programs (Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Codex, Gemini CLI, Grok Build, OpenCode, OpenClaw, Hermes, Pi, MiniMax Code, Kimi Code, Oh My Pi). The README says switching "replaces only the connection details", so everything depends on that being right.

    AI review

  • Inforouting mode proxies your requests

README, Features: in Routing mode the app "forwards requests through your machine, converting API formats and failing over automatically", and Aggregation mode merges models from several providers into one list. In those modes every prompt passes through a local server the app runs, instead of going straight from the tool to the provider.

    AI review

  • Infowindows signing not stated

The README says "CC Switch for macOS is code-signed and notarized by Apple. You can install and open it directly", and says nothing of the sort about the Windows .msi, so Windows may warn about an unknown publisher.

    AI review

  • Infolarge issue backlog

1,111 open issues against 150,647 stars, with releases almost daily (79 so far, v4.0.23 on 2026-10-31). It is actively developed, but a lot is open at once.

What Radar could not check

  • Where and how the app keeps your API keys on disk, and whether they are encrypted.
  • Whether a switch ever damages an existing config file for one of the twelve tools.
  • Whether any of the sponsored relay services deliver the stability, prices and model versions they advertise.
  • What the usage and quota screens send to the provider to read your balance.
  • Whether the app phones home or checks for updates in the background: it bundles the Tauri updater plugin.
