Day Trader Skill
Jakeschincariol/day-trader-skillReviewed by AI
What it does
Day Trader skill is a pack of 11 instruction files for Claude and Claude Code, plus small Python scripts that read free public data: Yahoo Finance charts, Nasdaq symbol lists, SEC EDGAR and US House filings. They scan charts for setups, follow news, time the entry, set a stop and a target, size the position to your budget and replay the session 10,000 times before you risk money. It is for people who already use Claude and trade stocks. You need Python 3.8 or newer and there is nothing to pip install; real orders go through your own broker and only after you approve each one.
How easy it is to install
C · install 1 or 2 tools · Windows
- Windows C
- macOS C
- Linux C
Windows, macOS and Linux are all C: you must already have Claude or Claude Code, then run one install step (paste the repository link with "install skill", or /plugin marketplace add Jakeschincariol/day-trader-skill and /plugin install day-trader-skill@day-trader-skill), and have Python 3.8 or newer for the scripts, with nothing to pip install. Sending real orders needs a brokerage connector on top of that.

- Attentioncan send orders to your broker
README: "/trader-broker | Order Executor | Sends approved orders to your broker, paper trading by default, never without your yes." The same README says "Most people who day trade lose money. You can lose money." Real money can be lost if you switch off paper trading or approve an order.

- Infounofficial data source
README: "Yahoo Finance's chart endpoint is not an official API: it can lag, change or rate-limit you. The scanner and the entry timer read 1-minute or 5-minute bars, not every tick."
AI review
- Infosends your name and email to sec
README: "The SEC tools (news filings, the analyst) ask you to identify yourself: put your name and email in `trader/config.json` (`"sec_user_agent": "Your Name [email protected]"`) or in the `SEC_USER_AGENT` environment variable." That name and email go out with every request to SEC EDGAR.
AI review
- Infosimulation presented as odds
The Time Machine gives percentages such as "target first 29.4 %, stop first 25.5 %", built only from the stock's last 60 days of 5-minute bars. The README itself says: "The future can do things those 60 days never did... Treat its odds as a reality check, never as a promise."

What Radar could not check
- Whether the scripts still work against Yahoo Finance, Nasdaq Trader, SEC EDGAR and the House Clerk today, since none of those is an official supported interface.
- Whether the numbers in the Tesla example can be reproduced outside the offline test fixtures.
- Whether the risk and budget checks really block an order that breaks your limits.
- Whether anything other than an order you approved can reach your brokerage account.
- How much Claude usage a full scan plus 10,000 replays consumes on a paid plan.
- How much disk space it uses: the checks could not estimate it.
